Feeling slightly guilty as the weather for the last four weeks has been incredible.. and after several months - nay years! - of building and sorting, I've been escaping most afternoons on the bike to explore local waterways... - the tally so far being:
The Huddersfield Narrow Canal (east & west); The Rochdale Canal; The Peak Forest Canal; The Calder & Hebble Navigation; The Aire & Calder Navigation; The Ashton Canal; and a chunk of The Bridgewater Canal... all in all about 350 miles..!

Discovered some wonderful places including a gas-lit, stone-floored, wood-paneled pub near Wakefield...

...namely The Kings Arms at Heath... which, apart from being a small gem of West Yorkshire architecture, sells a pint of locally brewed bitter for £1.85..!

A few more images from various locations follow below and at some point I'll try and organise a collection of thumbnails that will link to bigger images... along with more links to relevant websites...

But as I'm also supposed to organising the final changes to the old steel tub Tijan... and working out how to sail her down to London... some things just take a long time to get done..!!

Summit Level: The Rochdale Canal

The first day of summertime... and a wild & wet one up here in the hills, though the last few days have been clear and bright...

Discovered a couple of good walks and good pubs in exploring the local landscape and I'll try and figure out a way of incorporating relevant stuff into the website somehow as time goes by...

Also have just got broadband which I hope - combined with a bit more computer organisation - will help in getting things moving a bit..!

Max & Co. seem to have adjusted quite well to their new northern surroundings...

There's been quite a lot of snow since January but all three of them braved the icy wastes to have their daily explorations... though Max in particular was prone to giving this a miss every now and then...

We seem to have avoided any punch-ups with neighboring moggies so far at least... and the only minor problem is the wind from the south-east which blows the cat-flap open..!
